Tenaker Agility Training
Agility is a wonderful, fun activity that both owners and dogs enjoy.
It is a fast paced game where the handler directs their dog through a series of jumps,
tunnels, ramps, and weave poles. Agility started in England as a demonstration
at a horse event in 1978. It is now the fastest growing dog sport in the world.

Although initially most folks start agility just to have fun with their dogs with no plans to compete, after they get started, many discover they want to participate in actual trials. There are at least 8 different national organizations that sponsor agility trials throughout the US. Each organization emphasizes different aspects of agility and is designed to accommodate those desiring just a weekend of fun as well as the serious competitor. Pure breeds and All-Americans are welcome to participate.
The Tenaker agility program is run by experienced dog trainers and emphases fun and safety while building a firm foundation for any level of future agility training. All instructors have been competing in agility for many years with various dogs. We offer three foundation classes that are each six weeks long. After the completion of the second foundation class, most owners and their dogs are released for independent practice at the Tenaker Agility Field. After completion of the third foundation class, dogs are ready to join the drop in classes where they get the opportunity to run course, and if desired, prepare for competitions.
The prerequisite for the initial foundation agility class is basic obedience. All dogs should be able to walk on a loose lead, sit/down stay, and come when called. Their obedience should be sufficient to be performed off lead. with the distractions of the great outdoors and other dogs.
